What is KPI?

A key performance indicator is a type of performance measurement. KPIs evaluate the success of an organization or of a particular activity in which it engages.

What are the Social Media KPIs?

Social media KPIs are measurable metrics that reflect social media performance and prove social’s ROI for a business (Hootsuite). Setting KPIs in social media helps us to understand and set the right goals, measure the effectiveness of the social media channels of the company.

Let’s define the most important social media KPIs:

REACH – How many people has your social media post or page reached?

IMPRESSION – How many times your post or page was visible in someone’s feed?

PROFILE VISIT – How many users visited your page?

FOLLOWERS – How many followers do you have?

AUDIENCE GROWTH RATE – How follower count is changing over time?

AGR = (New Followers / Total Followers) * 100

ENGAGEMENT (total of likes, comments, shares, saves, clicks) – How many interactions has your post or page has been received?

ENGAGEMENT RATE – How much percentage of the users the page reached interacted with the post or page?

ER = (Total Engagement / Total Reach) * 100

CONVERSION – How many users converted on your website via social media ads?

CONVERSION RATE – How much percentage of users who clicked on your ad converted on your website?

CR = (Total Conversions / Total Clicks) * 100

COST PER RESULT – How many users reached the result based on our campaign goal/objective?

If the conversion has been set as a goal, Cost Per Conversion (result) would be:

Ad Spent / Total Conversions

CLICK-THROUGH-RATE (CTR) – How much percentage of users that your ad reached clicked on the ad?

CTR = (Total Clicks / Total Impression) * 100

COST PER CLICK (CPC) – How much did you pay for a click?

CPC = Ad Spent / Total Clicks

COST PER THOUSAND IMPRESSIONS (CPM) – How much did you pay for every 1000 impressions?
